Mr. Greg Oaks: Director

Mr. Gregory S. Oaks, a graduate of Middletown High School in Delaware, received his Bachelors of Music Education degree from James Madison University and is currently a student in the graduate program there.

Mr. Oaks is currently in his twentieth year of teaching and has recently become the band director at Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Virginia. Formerly, Mr. Oaks was the band director at Page County High School and most recently the band director at Spotswood High School. While at Spotswood, he led the program to nine Virginia Honor Band titles and was the recipient of the Virginia Music Educators Association Blue Ribbon Award twice. Also while at Spotswood, Mr. Oaks was awarded the Lions Club Educator of the Year Award as well as the AP Boxley Teacher Achievement Award. In addition, Mr. Oaks was recently inducted into the American School Band Directors Association.

Mr. Oaks studied trumpet with James Kluesner, Christopher Trantiatella, and Alan Hamant. He has performed with groups such as the Walt Disney World All American College Band, the Roanoke Symphony, David Liebman, and the Ringling Brothers Circus Band. In recent years, Mr. Oaks has become active as an adjudicator for the Virginia Band and Orchestra Association, judging both marching and concert venues. Mr. Oaks currently resides in Front Royal, Virginia with his wife, Lori, and their two sons Johnny and Ben.
